Positive, Respectful and Safe

English Year 4

Reading Year 4

Follow the reading lesson by clicking on the link below based on ‘The Worst Witch’ by Jill Murphy. There are some follow-up activities too. You will need to practise your reading and listening skills before thinking about your how the author gives us extra information and clues about the characters and plot and what this tells us. Using this knowledge, you will be able to make some useful predictions. Everything you need is within the lesson, except a pen and paper, and you of course!

There are also lots of reading activities to complete in Around the World this week. Why not find out about the Javan rhino from Indonesia (Day 51) https://www.rytonfederation.org/day-51-indonesia/ or discover more about the problem of plastic waste in Malaysia (Day 52)? https://www.rytonfederation.org/day-52-malaysia-singapore/

Writing Year 4

For the next two weeks, we will be working on the adventure unit ‘Mission Possible.’ This is a Talk 4 Writing booklet which begins with twins, Pete and Polly, who are not as ordinary as they appear. Prepare to go on an exciting spy adventure and become a reading detective. There will be characters to explore and characters to create (ready for story writing next week) so there is also a separate lesson on expanded noun phrases to help you with your descriptions. If you can reach Page 21 this week, that would be fantastic but don’t worry if you can’t. To access all resources, click on the links below:
